Geyr's Spiny-Tailed Lizard
Uromastyx geyri
Geyr's spiny-tailed lizard is an egg-laying desert agamid of Algeria, Mali and Niger, also called the Saharan uromastyx. A thick ringed spiny tail, broad head and orange or yellow adult coloring distinguish it from many other Uromastyx. Hobby breeders use spacious, ventilated dry enclosures with stable shelters, a strong controlled basking and light gradient and a diet centered on plant foods.
Females need appropriate nesting space. It is a desert herbivore, so tropical humidity and a routine insect or rodent diet are unsuitable assumptions.
