Pseudemys nelsoni
The Florida redbelly turtle is an egg-laying freshwater turtle from Florida and southern Georgia. Its dark shell has reddish markings, and the underside is often orange-red; the head carries pale stripes. It is maintained in specialist hobby and zoo collections. Housing needs substantial filtered swimming water, an accessible basking platform, shelter and nesting space. It is distinct from the northern red-bellied cooter, despite their similar common names.
