Flapneck Chameleon
Chamaeleo dilepis
The flapneck chameleon is an egg-laying chameleon of sub-Saharan Africa, associated with bush, woodland and savanna habitats. Movable flaps behind the head, a modest casque, granular skin and a prehensile tail distinguish it from horned chameleons. Experienced keepers provide planted climbing space, insects, drinking droplets, airflow and a controlled light and temperature gradient.
Mature females need suitable nesting substrate. It is Chamaeleo dilepis; the broad common-name label should not substitute for locality and correct identification.
