Fijian Crested Iguana
Brachylophus vitiensis
The Fijian crested iguana is a green, egg-laying iguana of dry forests on a few northwestern Fijian islands. Narrow pale body bands, a V-shaped nape marking and a prominent dark dorsal crest distinguish it from the banded iguanas. Conservation collections provide climbing structures, foliage, basking opportunities and a plant-based diet.
Its US ESA endangered listing and CITES Appendix I status make documented lawful origin and appropriate permit checks important. The three similar Fijian iguanas are separate species.
