Unknown Breed
An unknown breed Eurasian bullfinch is a bird whose exact captive variety, color line, or family background has not been recorded. It may be a normal wild-type bird, a carrier for mutations such as isabel or pied, or simply an entry from a rescue, older aviary, or incomplete sales record. The underlying species is still the Eurasian bullfinch, Pyrrhula pyrrhula, a stout-billed finch with a black head, white wing and rump markings, and sexually dimorphic adult plumage.
Care should follow the needs of the species rather than guesses about a line. A quiet planted flight, clean seed mix, buds, berries, leafy foods, minerals, and careful breeding-season nutrition are more important than assigning a name. When breeding from an unknown bird, it is better to record offspring colors honestly and avoid selling the young as a specific mutation or locality. In regions where wild bullfinches are protected, proof of captive origin can be as important as husbandry.
