Mixed Breed

A mixed breed Eurasian bullfinch is best understood as a captive bullfinch without a single named color line or strain behind it. The species, Pyrrhula pyrrhula, is a compact finch of Europe and temperate Asia, recognized by its black cap, white rump, short thick bill, and quiet piping call. Adult males show the familiar pink-red underparts, while females are softer grey-buff. In aviculture, mixed birds may combine normal pink, isabel, pied, white, or other selected lines, so appearance can vary without changing the species identity.

For keepers, the useful questions are legal captive-bred status, health, age, sex, and compatibility rather than the mixed label itself. Eurasian bullfinches do best in calm, roomy aviaries with cover, a varied finch seed base, seasonal buds, berries, greens, and extra protein when chicks are being raised. Because the species is native and regulated in many areas, rings, purchase records, and no-release policies matter.

Colors: Black, Isabel, Normal Pink, Pied, White
