Elongated Tortoise
Indotestudo elongata
The elongated tortoise is an egg-laying terrestrial turtle of South and Southeast Asian forests and adjoining habitats. Its long yellow-brown shell carries dark scute centers, and breeding adults may show a pinkish nose. It is maintained by specialist and conservation collections. Housing needs shaded ground space, sheltered litter, access to water and a controlled warm climate with suitable moisture. It should not be given the dry desert conditions used for some other tortoises.
