Unknown Breed
An unknown breed eclectus parrot is an eclectus kept or listed without a reliable subspecies or regional form. The term breed is loose here, since eclectus parrots are usually classified by island or geographic form rather than domestic breeds. Adults are easy to recognize as eclectus because males are predominantly green and females predominantly red, but features used to separate regional types can be subtle, altered by crossbreeding, or lost in pet-trade transfers.
For care, unknown background changes little: the bird still needs large parrot housing, daily social contact, opportunities to fly or climb, and a varied diet based heavily on fresh plant material rather than fatty seed mixes. The label does matter when rehoming or breeding; it is safer to describe the bird honestly as unknown unless parentage can be verified.
