Double-barred Finch
Stizoptera bichenovii
The double-barred finch is a small Australian finch commonly called the owl finch. Its pale face is bordered by dark markings, with a second dark band across the chest and pale spots on the wings. Provide generous flight space, peaceful companions and a varied finch diet with appropriate breeding nutrition and calcium. It lays eggs in a nest; monitor young birds as they become independent. White-rumped and black-rumped forms belong to the same species.
