Dhaman
Ptyas mucosa
The dhaman, or Oriental ratsnake, is a large, egg-laying snake widespread across South and Southeast Asia. Adults are typically yellow-brown or olive, with darker scale edges toward the rear and a large-eyed head. It uses both ground cover and vegetation and is maintained by specialist keepers. Housing needs secure floor space, sturdy climbing routes, retreats, water and a controlled thermal gradient. Its size and active movement require planning beyond a juvenile setup.
