Unknown Morph
An unknown morph day gecko is a Phelsuma grandis whose color or pattern label has not been confidently identified. In this species, often called the Madagascar giant day gecko, most animals are bright green with red facial and back markings, but captive lines may be sold with descriptive terms such as high red, blood red, blue head, high yellow, banded, dalmatian, or dark phase. Unknown morph does not automatically mean hybrid; it usually means the animal's parentage, line name, or exact color category was not recorded.
Care is the same as for other giant day geckos: a tall tropical vivarium, strong lighting, UVB, warm basking areas, live insects, and fruit-based gecko diets offered in a clean feeding station. These geckos are quick, delicate-skinned, and best moved with a cup rather than grabbed. For breeding projects, treat an unknown morph as unproven stock unless you have photos of both parents and offspring history, because color can change with age, mood, shed cycle, and enclosure conditions.
