Cuban Crocodile
Crocodylus rhombifer
The Cuban crocodile is an egg-laying crocodilian now centered on Cuban swamp habitat, especially the Zapata region. Adults have a relatively short broad snout, strong legs and a dark body with pale yellow speckling. Zoo breeding programs maintain it. Housing needs substantial water and land, secure barriers and professional management, with crocodilian permits where required. It is listed under the US Endangered Species Act and in CITES Appendix I.
