Common Snake-Necked Turtle
Chelodina longicollis
The common snake-necked turtle is an egg-laying freshwater turtle from eastern and southeastern Australia. Its long slender neck folds sideways beneath the shell rim, and the dark oval shell contrasts with a pale underside. It is maintained by specialist hobby and zoo collections. Housing needs clean swimming water, easy access to land, basking and nesting space, with conditions matched to its temperate origin. It is also called the eastern long-necked turtle.
