Unclassified Variety
Unclassified variety describes an ocellaris clownfish, Amphiprion ocellaris, whose color pattern has not been matched to a named morph or hatchery grade. It may be a normal orange fish, a black Darwin type, a snowflake-like fish with irregular bars, or a designer offspring that falls between commercial names. Morph naming in clownfish is not governed by one universal registry, so two sellers may describe the same pattern differently.
This label is useful for aquariums, rescues, and records where health and species identification matter more than a designer name. Care should be based on ocellaris requirements. Stable marine water and peaceful tankmates reduce stress, while secure cover helps the fish settle. Most accept an omnivorous diet of quality pellets and frozen foods. For breeding, an unclassified fish can still be valuable, but offspring should be described by observable pattern and known parentage rather than by a guess.
