Clown Isopod
Armadillidium klugii
The clown isopod is a pill-forming terrestrial woodlouse with pale spots and reddish margins on a darker body. Montenegro and Dubrovnik are hobby locality labels within the species. Captive colonies need abundant leaf litter, decayed wood and calcium, with good ventilation and a moist refuge beside a drier section. Offer occasional supplemental food without leaving it to spoil. Females release young from a brood pouch; retain locality records for breeding colonies.
