Central Fijian Banded Iguana
Brachylophus bulabula
The central Fijian banded iguana is a green, egg-laying iguana described as a separate species in 2008. Adult males have pale body bands, a broad U-shaped stripe on the nape and a completely yellow nasal scale; females are usually less banded. Conservation breeding programs use planted climbing enclosures, basking areas and a diet centered on leafy plants.
It is distinct from the Lau banded and Fijian crested iguanas. Its US ESA endangered listing and CITES Appendix I status make documented lawful origin and appropriate permit checks essential.
