Carrot-Tail Viper Gecko
Hemidactylus imbricatus
The carrot-tail viper gecko is a small, egg-laying ground gecko associated with dry parts of Pakistan. Its large overlapping scales, lengthwise markings and swollen, carrot-shaped tail make it distinctive. The viper name refers to appearance rather than a venomous snake relationship.
Small-gecko specialists provide secure ground-level housing with dry surfaces, stable shelters, a controlled thermal gradient and small insects. Older names include Teratolepis fasciata. Some historic Indian and Sri Lankan records are considered doubtful, so provenance is useful.
