Cameroon Red Baboon Tarantula
Hysterocrates gigas
The Cameroon red baboon tarantula is a large, egg-laying African burrowing spider with brown to reddish coloration. Its thick hind legs and robust build differ from the more slender arboreal tarantulas. Provide deep, firm substrate for a stable burrow, ventilation and drinking water, with moisture available below the surface. Feed appropriately sized insects. It is fast and defensive, so minimize disturbance and maintain it without handling.
