Boyd's Forest Dragon
Lophosaurus boydii
Boyd's forest dragon is an egg-laying dragon from the rainforests of northeastern Queensland, Australia. Its large head, enlarged cheek scales and interrupted spiny crest distinguish it from more familiar open-country dragons. Zoos and experienced Australian reptile keepers maintain it with upright climbing surfaces, shaded retreats, ventilation and a suitable forest temperature gradient.
Its natural habit of resting on tree trunks is useful when planning an enclosure. Record the scientific name, since older literature places it in the genus Hypsilurus.
