Blue-Tailed Day Gecko
Phelsuma cepediana
The blue-tailed day gecko is an egg-laying Mauritian day gecko recognized by its blue to turquoise tail and red dorsal markings on a green or blue-green body. Color varies with sex and locality. Day-gecko specialists keep it in planted, well-ventilated enclosures with broad climbing surfaces, drinking droplets and appropriate daytime lighting.
Its delicate skin and climbing pads favor observation over routine handling. It is distinct from Mauritius's ornate day gecko, which has a different head and neck pattern; a blue tail alone is not a complete identification.
