Unclassified Variety

For bleeding heart tetras, unclassified variety means the fish is recognized as Hyphessobrycon erythrostigma but has not been assigned to a wild-type, albino, or other trade form. The label may be used for young fish, store shipments with incomplete notes, or individuals whose color is affected by stress, lighting, or age. The species itself is usually recognized by the red patch on the side and dark-edged dorsal and anal fins.

Care should be based on the species rather than the variety label. Bleeding heart tetras prefer a group of their own kind, subdued lighting, and a tank with plants or driftwood that lets them settle. They accept small prepared and frozen foods and are usually compatible with calm community fish. If variety records matter, photograph mature fish in good condition before pairing them for an egg-scattering spawn.

Colors: Albino, Wild Type
