Varanus albigularis
The black-throated monitor (Varanus albigularis) is a large, muscular terrestrial lizard from southern and eastern Africa. Black-throated and white-throated forms are included under this species name. Captive care demands very large, secure housing with room to dig, a managed heat gradient, and UVB lighting; its substantial needs require careful planning.
