Unknown Morph
An unknown morph black-headed python is a snake whose visual traits or hidden genetics cannot be confirmed from the seller's or keeper's records. It may be normal wild type, an unproven visual outlier, or an animal carrying recessive genes such as a possible albino-related line without documentation. The species, Aspidites melanocephalus, is a robust Australian python with a dark heat-absorbing head and a pale to brown banded body, making some variation easy to overinterpret.
For a keeper, unknown morph status should not affect the basic setup: a secure, dry enclosure with firm hides, a strong thermal gradient, and prey sized for the snake's build rather than its label. It can affect breeding plans, because unverified hets and mixed-line ancestry may take years of pairings to clarify. Ethical sellers usually describe such animals conservatively and avoid pricing or representing them as a proven morph until offspring results support the claim.
