Beauty Snake
Elaphe taeniura
The beauty snake is a long, egg-laying Asian ratsnake that uses woodland, rocky cover and climbing routes. Typical animals have a dark stripe behind the eye, patterned front body and longitudinal markings toward the tail; regional forms differ considerably. It is established in specialist reptile collections. A secure enclosure needs room to stretch out, sturdy branches, retreats and a controlled thermal gradient. Older records may use the genus Orthriophis.
