Bearded Pygmy Chameleon
Rieppeleon brevicaudatus
The bearded pygmy chameleon is a small, short-tailed chameleon of East African forest undergrowth, recorded in Tanzania and Kenya. Its leaflike brown body and small projection beneath the chin distinguish it from larger branch-dwelling chameleons. It lays eggs and is kept by specialist chameleon breeders.
Housing should reflect its low, sheltered forest habitat with fine branches, leaf litter, foliage, ventilation and access to drinking droplets. Its compact tail and muted coloration are normal adult features, not signs of a juvenile larger species.
