Asian Leaf Turtle
Cyclemys dentata
The Asian leaf turtle inhabits freshwater and adjoining forest in Southeast Asia and the Sunda region. Its brown oval or heart-shaped shell has a toothed rear margin, and the head and neck carry narrow reddish stripes. It lays eggs and is kept by specialist turtle collections. Housing must provide clean accessible water, sheltered land, basking opportunities and a nesting area. Similar-looking Cyclemys species make reliable identity and origin records useful.
