Anthony's Poison Frog
Epipedobates anthonyi
Anthony's poison frog is a small Ecuadorian and Peruvian frog, often with reddish coloration and pale longitudinal stripes. It lays terrestrial egg clutches; males guard them and transport the tadpoles to water. Captive animals need a planted, ventilated enclosure with damp leaf litter and moderate temperatures. Feed tiny supplemented insects and monitor group interactions. Epipedobates tricolor is a distinct species, so preserve reliable identification rather than treating that trade name as a synonym.
