Cope's arboreal alligator lizard

Cope's Arboreal Alligator Lizard

Abronia aurita

Cope's arboreal alligator lizard is a live-bearing tree lizard from Guatemala's Alta Verapaz forests. Pale green to yellow-green armor, mottled crossbands, a yellow eye region and pointed ear scales identify it. Specialist keepers provide secure branches, foliage, airflow and drinking opportunities in a shaded forest enclosure. It is in CITES Appendix II with a zero export quota for wild specimens, making verified captive origin essential. Keep its identity separate from other Abronia.
