Tall Tail Llama Ranch
Tall Tail Llama Ranch has been raising llamas in Collbran, Colorado since 1995, making it one of the longer-running llama programs on the Western Slope, roughly an hour east of Grand Junction. Rob and Jill Knuckles built the ranch around a dual focus: breeding llamas with sound conformation and superior fleece, with an eye toward serving both the animal market and the fiber arts community.
The breeding program selects across multiple fiber types, including suri, silky, and huacaya llamas, with particular attention to luster, staple length, and minimal crimp. Those qualities make Tall Tail a resource for buyers searching for llamas for sale in Colorado who care about fiber production alongside animal quality. Fleeces from the herd are processed through small custom mills without harsh chemicals, reflecting a deliberate approach to sustainable, small-batch fiber handling.
