Shining Mountain Llamas, owned by Craig Freeman, raises llamas in Como, Colorado, situated in South Park on the high plains below the Mosquito Range, roughly an hour southwest of Denver.
The operation is associated with the latitudellamas.com program, which has been rooted in pack-llama work since the early 1990s. The focus has always been on Ccara, or classic, llamas — short-wooled, athletic animals selected for the strength and endurance needed to carry loads in backcountry terrain.
