Red Velvet Hedgehogs

Red Velvet Hedgehogs is a breeder of African pygmy hedgehogs in central Kentucky near Lexington. With several years of hands-on experience, Jayci Watson follows guidelines from trusted hedgehog care organizations.

The breeding setup includes temperature- and humidity-controlled enclosures, enriched bedding, and balanced diets tailored to each hedgehog’s age and activity level. Every hog receives veterinary checkups, parasite screenings and dental exams before joining a new home. Breeding pairs are chosen with attention to health clearances and genetic diversity to promote robust lineages.

Hedgehogs are handled gently from an early age to foster calm, confident personalities and introduced to exercise wheels, supervised playtime, and varied feeding stations. Many repeat adopters appreciate the openness of communication and follow-up support they receive from Red Velvet Hedgehogs. The nursery area has soft nesting zones and dim lighting to mimic natural habitats and support restful growth.
