Peace County Hedgehogs

Peace County Hedgehogs, African pygmy hedgehogs in Alberta’s prairie region near Edmonton, is operated by Sara Boucher. She has been breeding and caring for hedgehogs for over eight years, holds membership in a provincial small-animal club, and ensures regular veterinary checks including weight monitoring and parasite screenings.

Each hog is raised in a home environment with daily handling, varied enrichment to support curiosity and comfort, and nesting and exercise areas that are cleaned frequently and outfitted with toys and hiding spots. Sara focuses on gentle socialization from an early age and follows up-to-date recommendations on diet, lighting and habitat setup. All breeding adults undergo temperament assessments to promote calm, well-adjusted litters.
