Hill Country Gerbils

Hill Country Gerbils, run by Greta Kratz, breeds Mongolian gerbils in northern Austin, Texas, near the communities of Leander and Cedar Park on the edge of the Texas Hill Country.

The program has been active since 2013, originally operating under the name Cedar Moon Gerbils. Greta is a registered member and certified hobby breeder through the American Gerbil Society, where she has also served on the board. Breeding stock comes from showline pedigrees selected to produce rare coat colors, and careful records are kept for every animal. Pups are hand-tamed from birth and acclimated to everyday household sounds before going to new homes.

Hill Country Gerbils also functions as a rescue and rehoming resource, accepting surrendered gerbils and screening prospective adopters to ensure proper care.
