Happy Hens & Highlands

Happy Hens & Highlands raises AHCA-registered Scottish highland cattle in Micaville, North Carolina, tucked into the mountains of Yancey County about an hour northeast of Asheville. Founded in 2014 by Emily Young, the farm grew from a small poultry operation into a dedicated highland cattle program.

The herd lives outdoors, raised with daily handling that keeps the animals friendly and docile. The program focuses on breeding structurally sound cattle with gentle dispositions, and registered animals are placed as breeding stock, show animals, and pasture managers on hobby farms. Semen and embryos from select animals are also available.

For those searching for Scottish highland cattle for sale in North Carolina, the farm offers AHCA-registered cows, bulls, and calves, with nationwide transport available. Emily also produces Highland cattle merchandise and original art, and the farm has hosted guided farm visits since 2017.
