Fur and Quills

Fur and Quills breeds African pygmy hedgehogs in South Carolina. They have been dedicated to careful hedgehog breeding for over ten years under the guidelines of the North American Hedgehog Association and follow routine health screenings to screen for common hereditary conditions. Their breeding pairs are selected for gentle temperaments and robust health.

The nursery features indoor, temperature controlled enclosures with daily handling sessions and a diet balanced between high-quality cat kibble and fresh produce. Based in the Midlands region near Columbia, they welcome in-person visits to tour the space and meet each hedgehog in a quiet, home-like setting. Adopted hedgehogs leave with a starter kit that includes familiar bedding, feeding instructions and veterinary records. Many owners note the friendly curiosity and calm manner of their new pets. They keep detailed care logs and offer ongoing support for health or behavior questions, and several retired breeders stay on as ambassadors at local educational events.
