Crossback Farm, LLC raises miniature Mediterranean donkeys in Cullman, Alabama, a small city in the rolling hill country about 45 minutes north of Birmingham. The farm is run by Herb Caillouet and his family, who put considerable thought into building their herd before acquiring their first animals, visiting farms across multiple states to learn from experienced breeders before getting started.

The program began with two jennets, Posie and Lil Red, sourced from established lines that include Rearview's Red Rock, Windcrest Cherries Jubliee, and The Fireman in their pedigree. Alongside growing the herd, the farm has worked to bring in offspring from show-ring-proven sires, with at least one jennet planned for halter competition to help strengthen the genetic direction of the program. One of the farm's brood jennets has built a strong foaling record and has even fostered foals from other dams, a detail that speaks to the disposition the farm looks for in its animals.

Beyond breeding miniature Mediterranean donkeys for sale in Alabama, Crossback Farm has taken a community-minded approach to the animals, allowing their minis to participate in local church Christmas programs in the area.
