Alpacas of Somerset Farm raises huacaya and suri alpacas in Somerset, California, set within the southern El Dorado County wine country roughly an hour southeast of Sacramento. Dianna and Jack Jordan have called this Sierra Nevada foothills property home since 1978, and the farm grew naturally out of that long-standing connection to the land and the agricultural community surrounding it.

Both Dianna and Jack bring professional backgrounds to the operation — Dianna as an educator and former president of the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association, where she helped lead the merger of the two primary national alpaca organizations, and Jack as a retired high school teacher whose building and business skills have shaped the ranch's infrastructure. The farm joined AOBA and its California affiliate, Calpaca, within its first few months of operation.

The herd spans both fiber types, with genetics sourced from established foundation imports as well as North American-bred animals. Alpacas of Somerset Farm also places a strong emphasis on mentoring and education, supporting prospective and new alpaca owners looking for alpacas for sale in California alongside buyers already active in the industry. Herdsire services are available for outside breeders, and the farm is selective about which males it retains or offers to others.
