Unknown Morph
An unknown morph African spurred tortoise is a sulcata tortoise whose color-line background is not known. It may be an ordinary wild-type animal, a pale morph, or a tortoise carrying ancestry from ivory, caramel, or high-yellow lines without obvious expression. The unknown label is most appropriate when parentage, hatch source, or breeder records are absent.
Practical care does not change with the label. African spurred tortoises need warm dry housing, natural grazing or grass hay, mineral support, hydration, and enough space for a very large adult. Unknown morph animals should be represented plainly if sold or bred, since offspring color may not be predictable. Long-term records of growth, shell condition, diet, and origin are more useful than speculation about hidden morph ancestry.
