Sarah Lillegard

Sarah Lillegard offers small flock shearing in Doyle, California, serving Northern Nevada and Northeastern California, including the Reno area. Her seasons run February through July and September through November, fitting the natural rhythms of spring and fall shearing.

Working with sheep, goats, alpacas and llamas, Sarah handles flocks and herds from a handful of animals up to around a hundred, using the New Zealand shearing method learned through the UCCE Mendocino Sheep Shearing School. This approach favors efficiency and animal comfort while keeping fleece quality intact. Hoof trimming is included as part of her camelid maintenance cuts, and she brings her own restraint system and assistant for llamas and alpacas.

Beyond shearing, Sarah keeps a small flock of Icelandic sheep and belongs to the California Wool Growers Association, the American Sheep Industry Association, and the Reno Fiber Guild. Her work spans backyard flocks and small-scale ranches throughout the high desert region, reflecting a steady interest in local wool and small ruminant husbandry across Northern Nevada and Northeastern California.
