Southern Asspitality Miniature Donkeys

Southern Asspitality Miniature Donkeys raises MDR-registered miniature Mediterranean donkeys in Wartrace, Tennessee, a small Bedford County town about an hour southeast of Nashville. Debbie Ames and her daughter Savannah run the program as a family operation, breeding, training, and showing their herd alongside a broader mix of horses, a miniature horse, goats, dogs, and cats.

The herd currently numbers around two dozen donkeys and represents a wide range of colors, including spots, reds, blacks, browns, grays, and NLPs. Pedigrees in the program trace to well-regarded lines such as My World Buster, Circle C, Cobra's, Dewey Meadows, and HHAA, among others. DNA typing is on file at Texas A&M University for select animals.

Foals are socialized from birth and given a foundation of handling and positive experiences before leaving the farm. The program selects for personality, conformation, and overall breed improvement, with a stated interest in advancing the miniature Mediterranean donkey's future. All jack foals are gelded before placement unless going to a verified breeding home, and all donkeys are required to go to homes that can provide a companion animal of the same species.
