Windsor Wools

Windsor Wools Shetland sheep are raised in Windsor, CT, in Hartford County and central Connecticut near Hartford. Windsor Wools is led by Jane Oswecki and Vincent Oswecki, each bringing hands-on expertise in on-farm lambing, wool grading and fiber arts. They maintain membership in the American Sheep Industry Association, follow recommended vaccination protocols and conduct routine genetic and health screenings on every lamb.

From birth, lambs are nurtured in open pastures with daily handling and mixed-age groupings to encourage calm temperaments, natural foraging behaviors and strong physical health. Sustainable rotational grazing and soil management support nutrient cycling, pasture renewal and biodiversity across their rolling fields. The farm preserves traditional fleece evaluation techniques and hand-classification methods, ensuring each fleece meets high standards for staple strength, micron uniformity and natural luster.

The Osweckis began breeding Shetland sheep in 2008 and have since developed bloodlines noted for wool fineness, earning ribbons at regional fiber fairs and local shows. Visitors and neighboring farmers often note the sheep’s gentle demeanor and responsive nature, a result of consistent socialization, barn time and attentive daily care.
