Grace Farm

Grace Farm raises Shetland sheep in Shepherd, MI, in Central Michigan near Mt. Pleasant.

Susie and Jim Sizemore have bred Shetland sheep for over fifteen years, maintaining membership in the American Shetland Sheep Breeders Association and conducting annual genetic and health screenings. Their flock grazes on rotational pastures managed for forage diversity, and lambs are introduced to daily handling routines to ensure calm, well-socialized sheep. As a family-run farm established in the 1990s, their breeding program emphasizes fine fleece quality and hardiness in northern climates. All breeding stock undergoes routine foot-trimming, parasite screening and quarterly wellness exams to support longevity.

A local spinner highlighted the uniform fiber diameter and staple length consistently found in their fleeces. Lambing takes place in sheltered barns with ample straw bedding, and lambs join the flock on pasture after weaning to encourage strong immune systems. With a focus on sustainable husbandry and low-stress lambing techniques, Grace Farm supports both emerging fiber artists and homesteaders seeking reliable breeding stock.
