Fleece & Feather Farm
Fleece & Feather Farm raises Shetland sheep in Ashville, Ohio, serving the broader Pickaway County and Columbus area. LaRue and Rachel have more than a decade of experience breeding Shetland sheep and maintain registrations through regional shepherd associations. They follow recommended health screening protocols to support flock well-being and work to preserve traditional characteristics of the breed.
Their flock grazes on rotational pasture with access to sheltered barns, and lambs are gently handled from an early age to build trust. The farm maintains a small herd to ensure individualized care, and many shepherds note the fine quality of the natural fleece. Visits by appointment give prospective shepherds a chance to meet animals in a relaxed setting and discuss breeding goals.
The farmers occasionally host informal wool demonstrations and share resources on sustainable sheepkeeping with new enthusiasts. They designed their barn with nesting boxes for lambing and spacious pens that encourage natural behaviors.
